Funeral Service for Burnis Turner Jr., Age 59, of Point, TX, will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dr. G. Edward West II, Rev. Elgie Clayton and Rev. Robert Stepney officiating. Military Graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Benton Hill Cemetery in Point, TX, with, Al Adams, Gaylon Bacy, Cecil Devance Jr., Wesley “Schouch” Govan, Micheal Hobbs and Eddie Jackson serving as pallbearers. No formal Visitation. Mr. Turner passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Turner was born on November 14, 1955 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the son of Burnis Turner Sr. and Willie Lee Devance Turner. He married Darlene Bacy in 1985 in Rains County. She survives. Mr. Turner proudly served in the United States Marines. He was of Baptist Faith.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Talisha Burns and husband James of Emory, Shaylai Turner of Point, and Caylai Turner of Point, brother, Roger Cozine and wife Carolyn of North Carolina, sister, Sandra Kay Turner of Point, grandchildren, Jakyra Givens and Zakorian Foster.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Larnita Turner.
