Due to low system pressure as a result of low water levels, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required Mount Vernon water system, the City of Mount Vernon/800001, to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption Saturday, August 29. The order has now been removed following a testing that assured the proper standards for the public water service.
A refill switch on water tower malfunctioned. Water tower did not refill overnight causing problems. Local restaurants serving bottled water and canned drinks.
