Dana E. Thorpe

obit-ThorpeMemorial Services for Dana E. Thorpe of Yantis will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Perry Crisp and Bro. Fred Fangio officiating.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.

Dana passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, at his residence.  He was born on April 8, 1944 in Framingham, MA, the son of Ellery Vincent and Ruth Alice (Moore) Thorpe.  He married Wanda Lee Chapman.  He served in the U.S. Air Force serving one tour in Vietnam, was a retired dairy farmer, was a salesman for John Deere and attended Lake Fork Baptist Church.

He had a great love and respect for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Turkey Federation.  His greatest enjoyment was watching his grandkids participate in school activities and sporting events.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Lorna McGlamery and husband, Eddie and Michelle Haney and husband, Jeff, both from Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren, Shelby, Maci, Maggie, Chase and Cole and 1 great-granddaughter, Addison; brothers, Jay Thorpe of Ft. Myers, FL, Brian Thorpe of Las Vegas, NV, Lee Thorpe of Ft. Myers, FL and Ellery Thorpe, Jr. of Lugoff, S.C.; sister, Pamela J. Rumery of Meredith, N.H.;

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Thorpe and black lab and best friend, Mandy.
