Six contestants are vying for the title of Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen. One of the competitive events for the contestants is the Cow Milking Contest. Festival Queen Contestants and their parents compete each year. This year in the Regional Civic Center, the contestants, parents, and Hot Air Balloon pilots milked Jersey cows provided by the Koon Family Farm.
Judging the milking contest this year were two county Justices of the Peace, B. J. Teer (show pouring the milk following weigh-in) and Brad Cummings.
In the parents division: Ben and Veronica Arnold coaxed the most milk from their cow. Second place parents were Jason and Jill Dietz. Craig and Jan Buck finished third.
The top three Festival Queen contestants included Samantha Buck, first, Sidney Dietz, second, and Maddie Boshears, third.
The hot air balloon pilot winners will be announced Sunday morning during their annual breakfast.
