The city of Sulphur Springs swimming pool is no more. Plans call for a large pavilion to go in its place. The pavilion will be a kit that is being purchased by GSC, Inc and Grocery Supply through a $75,000 donation. The pavilion will be between 5,000 and 5,400 square feet. Work has been slowed due to weather conditions, according to City Manager Marc Maxwell.
Maxwell stated that the Chamber of Commerce Adult Leadership Class and Sulphur Springs Commercial Services owned by John Berry and John Heilman are working together to build the pavilion. Sulphur Springs Commercial Services has done much of the dirt work, hauled off the pool concrete at no cost, secured donated labor on the new concrete, and is also seeking the donation of the concrete to be used at the site. The company will also erect the pavilion.
The Leadership Class seeks $1,000 for each table with the money over the cost of the table going to additional expenses of the project.
Target date for completion of the project is late summer or early fall, according to Maxwell.
