JACK PHILLIPS, 9-YEAR-OLD WESTERN SWING FIDDLER FROM HOPKINS COUNTY, WON FIRST PLACE IN HIS AGE DIVISION AT TURKEY, TEXAS BOB WILLS DAY FIDDLING CONTEST.
THERE WERE 15 CONTESTANTS IN THE 12-AND-UNDER AGE DIVISION.
FIDDLE TUNES HE PLAYED IN COMPETITION WERE “SALLY GOODIN” AND “CORNFLOWER WALTZ”.
HE WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND WITH “SOUTH” AND TOOK HOME A SILVER BELT BUCKLE COMMEMORATING THE 44TH ANNUAL BOB WILLS YOUTH FIDDLE CONTEST. JACK IS A FOURTH-GRADE STUDENT AT SULPHUR BLUFF ISD AND THE SON OF MARK AND ALLISON FIELDEN PHILLIPS.
