Brashear News by Debbie Young

I am so sorry about missing the deadline for the past few weeks not much going on.

A small world thing happened this week. I got a call from a man in Harrison County asking questions about Brashear Cemetery. It seems that he and his wife are going to come in March to search the Cemetery for her relatives. While talking, I ask their name. Lo and behold, their name was Buckholt. I go you are kidding. My grandmother’s maiden name was Buckholt. It seems like we may be related. Their name is Palmer and they will be here in early March and we are going to share what family information we have. I had to call Aunt Mary and tell her. Cannot wait to see where this leads.

Brashear had some excitement on Tuesday morning. There was a small accident when a man ran into the business strip here in Brashear. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Does anyone know who purchased The Ole Brashear Store? The For Sale Sign did not stay up for long. Curious minds are a wondering.

Garden time is here. Tom has been working hard with all of this nice weather. He has planted radishes, mustard greens, turnips, onions, and new potatoes, broccoli, and cabbage. He is loving this nice weather. He has just finished teaching a God and Gardening class for 4 weeks and it was so much fun. Everyone came and shared gardening stories and how to’s. We sure did enjoy hearing garden adventures. We had a lesson on composts; a lesson on how to plant in different containers, and a lesson on different ways to put up the produce.

Did anyone else happen to notice the helicopter that was hovering over the McCorkle’s place on CR 1157 and CR 1116? They seemed to just hover over the back part of her land and then it took off. It left toward Sulphur Springs. This was about 3:00 pm in the afternoon on Tuesday of this week.

P31 is really off to a good start for the new year. We have a large group of wonderful ladies and a great trainer, Jennifer Caudle. If you would like to see what all the excitement is all about, come up to the Brashear Baptist Church on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday at 7:00 pm. We would love to have you come and join us. Great group of women and fun too. Winning combination.

We have not had much else going on around here so I will close for the week. If you have anything you would like to share, just call me at 903.612.8806; email me at [email protected]; or come by for a visit at CR 1119. Take care and remember this wonderful weather will probably not last for long.
