“Updated” SSISD Ponders Financial Issues

The auditing firm of Rutherford, Taylor and Company will present a Financial and Compliance Report for the Sulphur Springs ISD for last school year during a School Board meeting Monday night at 6 p.m. in the Admin Building. The board will also complete an evaluation of Superintendent Michael Lamb and will consider a contract extension and compensation for him.

There were lots of positives as the Sulphur Springs School Board heard an audit of finances and compliance by the district last school year. Michael Taylor with Rutherford and Taylor said the district did get a clean opinion from the firm and he added there were no deficiencies. He did note one finding of non-compliance where he pointed out that the district overextended several expenditure categories spending $66,000 more than the budgeted amount. Still overall the district spent over $726,000 less than they budgeted
