Wastewater Treatment Plant Needs Improvements

wastewater plantSulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell says the city needs to make some more improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, built in the 1970’s. The city has been under TCEQ enforcement for some time now after the city was out of compliance for a big measurement, total suspended solids, for four months during a year’s time. That problem has been eased by new filters but other elements have exceeded upper limits from time to time. Maxwell says industrial affluent coming to the plant has very high strength and he adds the plant suffers from low oxygen in the process.
