SSISD School Board Agrees To School Lunch Price Increase

The Sulphur Springs School Board agreed to raise school lunch prices 25-cents at a Monday night meeting. The cost will go from $2.00 to $2.25. Rickie Elliott, district Director of Child Nutrition, said the increase would show the district is trying to achieve the intent of federal Food and Nutrition Service rules. The board also witnessed a graduation ceremony for Nicholas McElfresh. High School Principal Josh Williams said Nicholas had satisfied all requirements to graduate. Superintendent Mike Lamb presented Nicholas a diploma. Marlene Cadena also met all requirements to graduate but did not attend the meeting. The board also agreed to renew their Property Casualty Insurance for just over a 1% cost increase. They switched Student Accident Insurance carriers for a 24% savings.
