Guests were treated to sandwiches, fruits and vegetables as we celebrated the grand opening of their office at 950 Main Street in Sulphur Springs! The Executive Director Edd Hess explained to the guests about the type of Hospice Care they provide and also mentioned they will be hosting a bereavement camp for children. Entry forms are available for the 13th Annual Texas State Champion Homemade Ice Cream Freeze-Off at the Chamber of Commerce office at 300 Connally Street. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14th at 4:00pm at the Civic Center! Prizes are awarded in three categories: Little Dips (Ages 6-12), Big Dips (Ages 13 and Older) and Super Scoops (Previous first place winners). Entries will be judged in the following categories: Plain (Chocolate or Vanilla), Fruit (Single Ingredient Fruit) and Novelty (Mixed Ingredients). So start figuring out your favorite recipe and submit it for entry in the contest. And, by the way…there is NO ENTRY FEE!!! For more information, please call 903-885-6515. Twogether in Texas Marriage Education workshop

This free workshop is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Hopkins County AgriLife Extension Office, 1200 W. Houston Street. Upon completion of the workshop, engaged couples will receive a certificate to receive a $60 savings upon applying for a marriage license. Contact Johanna Hicks at 903-885-3443 to sign up.

Adult Leadership Class being offered for the Fall! Sign up Now!!!

The next Adult Leadership Class will be starting in August for anyone who is interested. The Adult Leadership Class is a community leadership development program sponsored by the Hopkins county Chamber of Commerce. The course was created in 1989 with the concept of offering leadership training and community involvement for emerging business and community leaders. A benefit ride for the Hearts of Life Animal Shelter will be Saturday, June 7th at Muddy Jake’s Sports Grill & Pub downtown Sulphur springs. $25 per Bike two chances, $30 for three chances. $50 Poker Run-50/50. Sign up starts at 9:00am @ Muddy Jakes. First Bike out at 10am, Last Bike out at 10:30, then first bike in at 3:00pm, last bike in at 3:30. Multiple banks will be playing from 3:30-Midnight at Muddy Jakes.

Bereavement Camp Braveheart June 11-12 at First United Methodist Church

Cypress Basin Hospice will host a bereavement camp for children. The camp will be June 11-12th at FUMC from 8am-Noon. The campers will explore and share their feelings with other children who have also experienced a loss. Children benefit from learning about htw the grief process works and that the feelings they are having are normal. Camp Braveheart is FREE, but with limited space! Call 903-557-1510 for more information. They are looking for campers and volunteers!

Senior Summer Olympics to be held Thursday, June 19th at the Church of the Nazarene’s Gym

Don’t miss out on all of the fun! The Senior Olympics will include a 1k race, horse shoes, bean bag toss, nerf javelin throw, washer pitching, assisted walk race, un-assisted walk race, scooter race & wheelchair race. The 1K will begin at 8am and all of the other games will begin at 9! Participants may enter as many events as they choose. The first 160 seniors to sign up will receive a FREE Olympic T-shirt! Drinks and Snacks will be provided! Stop by the Senior Center and Fill out an Entry Form.

Brickhouse Yoga Presents Kids Yoga Summer Cam-June 23, 24 & 25th

Kids yoga summer camp is designed for Yoga adventures through storytelling, art & play. The kis will use their imagination to travel the world and learn cool yoga moves. After moving our bodies they will learn relaxation techniques and take part in creative activities that “make a difference”! The camp will be from 9:30-11am for 5-8 year old and from 11:30-1pm for 9-12 year olds. It is $45 for the 3-day camp. You may go to brickhouseyoga.com for details.
