Lady Cat Volleyball Opens District Play Friday Following An Emotional and Mental Drainer Tuesday

Lady Cats Volleyball Coach Justin Maness said the Lady Cats were a little gassed in a match against Nevada Community that followed a grueling five-set win against Pleasant Grove in Wildcats Gym Tuesday (September 18) evening. He said against the Lady Hawks every set was a battle. Coach Maness called it an emotional and mental drainer. He noted the match lasted almost an hour and forty-five minutes.

Coach Maness said the Lady Cats ended up playing eight sets of volleyball Tuesday night. He took responsibility for the tough back to back saying he accidentally double booked teams for Tuesday night. His agreement with Pleasant Grove was made back in December. Coach Maness hopes the loss to Nevada Community will not linger.

The Lady Cats open district play Friday (September 21) at Royse City. He said he expects the Lady Cats to kinda forget the Tuesday loss and come back fresh Friday and play well. Coach Maness said the two matches did allow him to get a lot of players on the court. Erika VanBenthem, who has been out all season with an ankle injury, was able to play some. Coach Maness said he was proud of the Lady Cats for the way they battled in the third set against Nevada Community.
