Funeral services for Carrie Ellis, age 92, of Carrollton, formerly of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, February 10, 2017 at West Oaks funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Witham and Robert Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Terry Penny, Bart Penny, Dennis Scott, Ronald Wills, David Dobson, and Cole Scott serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 on Friday, February 10, 2017, one hour prior to service. Carrie passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Vista Ridge of Lewisville.
Carrie was born March 15, 1924 in Arbala, TX, the daughter of Clarence and Annie Lee Penny. She married Melvin D. Ellis on August 16, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1999. She was a hair stylist for over 25 years.
Carrie is survived by daughter-in law, Linda Ellis, brother, William B. Penny and wife Vernice of Sulphur Springs, sister, Dorothy Duncan of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Debbie Ellis of Grand Prairie, TX, Ben Ellis of Fate, TX, Brandon Ellis of NJ, Shawn Ellis of Lubbock, TX, Tina Scott and husband Dennis of Farmers Branch, LaJeana Thomas and husband Phillip of Carrollton, and Great-Grandchildren Cole and Delanie Scott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Ellis, parents, sons, Donald Ellis, Doc Ellis, Brad Ellis, brother, Milton Ray Penny, sisters, Lilly Gode and Ola Mae Griffin.
