Marilyn Kay Gore

marilyn-goreGraveside service for Marilyn Kay Gore, age 78, of Cumby, will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Cumby Cemetery with Rev. C. J. Duffy officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Dixon, Tanner Landers, J.C. Nolan, Brandon Landers, Jaxon Dixon, Jace Dixon and Warren Joe Gore.  Marilyn passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at CHRISTUS Mother Frances in Sulphur Springs.

She was born December 9, 1937, the daughter of Lawrence Bernard Koska and Mary Elizabeth Tenure Koska in Fort Riley KS.  Marilyn married W. G.(Geedie) Gore on July 15, 1970 in Welon OK. He preceded her in death.   Marilyn retired as a junior engineer for H.D. Lee Company and was a member of the Brashear Baptist Church. She enjoyed the country life with her menagerie of animals and was always busy building or creating something.  She loved working in her yard and being surrounded by family.

She is survived by son, James R. (Bubba Rick) Landers, daughters, Kim Elizabeth Gregory, Vicki Jo Dixon, sister, Sharon Gross and husband Fred of Houston, grandchildren, Emily Landers (Roger), Bo Dixon (Kristin), Tanner Landers, Lacy Walden (Jeramie), Jailyn Dixon and Warren Joe Gore (Donna), five great-grandchildren, J. C. Nolan, Brandon Landers, Kierstin Walden, Jaxon Dixon and Jace Dixon and several nieces and nephews. Stepchildren Warren D. (Buddy) Gore (Ina), Larry J. Gore (Pam), Dorothy (Sissy) Gore, Cathy Haynsworth (Harlan) and Janice Cope (Jimmy) and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr. Cutrell, Ramona Phifer, her nurse since 2004, and caregivers Kristin Bradley and Magen Denson, and everyone who cared for her, all are like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, brother Larry “Sonny” Koska, sisters, Dixie Peterson, Sally Jo Hurst, and great-grandchild Kasen Wade Walden.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your church, Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter or charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
