Wood County Sheriff’s Report for August 15, 2018 to August 21, 2018:

August 15th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:54 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4940 near Winnsboro; at approximately 7:43 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:50 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any individuals.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5938 near Yantis, at approximately 9:03 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputes checked the building and it was secure.

At 9:36 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1700 near Yantis.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:50 a.m., in reference to a scam that occurred near Lake Lydia in Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

At 10:57 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 4860 near Winnsboro.

At 2:56 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 778 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:09 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on CR 1970 near Yantis. Deputies determined this incident to be a civil matter.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1418 near Quitman, at approximately 3:31 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Yantis, at approximately 4:40 p.m., in reference to a traffic hazard. The vehicle was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:37 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on CR 2700 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2774 near Mineola, at approximately 7:03 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Cliff St. in Quitman; at approximately 7:14 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:16 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat that occurred on CR 1416 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

At 8:47 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 69 near Alba.

At 8:52 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3230 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 9:17 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies advised the individual of the effective burn ban and the fire was extinguished.

At 9:28 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 778 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 182 near Alba, at approximately 10:44 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

August 16th

At 12:15 a.m., cows were reported out on PR 6209 near Mineola.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:35 a.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 2140 near Quitman. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to Cr 2375 near Alba, at approximately 8:14 a.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Joes Wrecker towed the vehicle and cleared the area.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Indian Gap near Quitman; at approximately 8:27 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 9:31 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3420 near Hawkins.

At 10:00 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

At 1:10 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to Fm 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:29 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

At 6:51 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4860 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5549 near Alba, at approximately 7:49 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies were unable to locate the actor or actors that started the fire, but the fire was extinguished.

At 8:49 p.m., cows were reported out on Cr 3230 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Alba, at approximately 9:17 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Deputies were unable to locate the owners of the building, but will provide extra patrol.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4930 near Winnsboro; at approximately 9:55 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

August 17th

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Winnsboro St. in Quitman; at approximately 1:17 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 1660 near Alba; at approximately 1:58 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

At 2:01 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 37 near Mineola.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 37 near Mineola; at approximately 2:33 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 1246 near Quitman; at approximately 3:16 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

At 6:49 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 515 near Yantis.

At 7:19 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Winnsboro.

At 7:32 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Winnsboro.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Winnsboro Police Department; at approximately 8:25 a.m. Alfred Hass, 48, of Winnsboro, was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 8:39 a.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 4591 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:24 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:14 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies were dispatched to Green Meadow Trail near Hawkins, at approximately 3:47 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and advised Holly Lake Ranch guard shack to provide extra patrol.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2307 near Mineola, at approximately 7:27 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2630 near Mineola, at approximately 7:48 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:15 p.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on CR 1600 near Alba. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2308 near Mineola, at approximately 8:56 p.m., in reference to a burglary. A known actor stole several tools out of the reporting party’s garage. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 9:09 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and the individual was transported to the hospital.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 11:54 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

August 18th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Alba, at approximately 2:09 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 69 near Alba; at approximately 5:34 a.m. Deputies located the individual and provided a courtesy transport.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 11:23 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 73, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1858 near Yantis, at approximately 12:26 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 2:51 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1799 near Alba, at approximately 6:37 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies spoke with all parties and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Alba, at approximately 7:46 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies advised the individual of the effective burn ban and the fire was extinguished.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2276 near Mineola, at approximately 8:10 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

At 8:32 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1413 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Hawkins RV Park, at approximately 9:01 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies advised the individual of the effective burn ban and the fire was extinguished.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1858 near Yantis, at approximately 9:32 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies advised the individuals to turn the music off by midnight.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2768 near Mineola, at approximately 9:46 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

At 10:01 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.

At 10:57 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:20 p.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on CR 2500 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Sells St. in Yantis, at approximately 11:31 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

August 19th

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:09 a.m., in reference to theft that occurred on HWY 37 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3483 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:10 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3811 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:14 p.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole a birth certificate and Social Security card from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1987 near Yantis, at approximately 5:26 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:56 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass that occurred on PR 5899 near Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:13 p.m., in reference to a disturbance that occurred on CR 2430 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2245 near Mineola, at approximately 7:27 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

At 8:38 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 779 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5675 near Alba, at approximately 9:20 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

August 20th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 182 near Alba; at approximately 8:25 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:50 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 9:15 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1560 near Alba, at approximately 9:23 a.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1226 near Quitman, at approximately 10:54 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm from the reporting party’s vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1581 near Alba, at approximately 11:00 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 2:29 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:55 p.m., in reference to fraud that occurred on FM 2869 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 3:22 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4310 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:45 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1246 near Quitman, at approximately 5:23 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the actors.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2922 near Alba, at approximately 5:55 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Daniel Kenney, 28, of Alba, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 6:27 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 6:33 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Cheyenne near Quitman, at approximately 6:59 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but unable to locate the individuals.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4940 near Quitman, at approximately 7:24 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and determined this incident to be a civil matter.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:00 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

At 8:00 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3130 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1473 near Quitman, at approximately 8:38 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

August 21st

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:10 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 80 near Hawkins; at approximately 2:06 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 3983 near Winnsboro; at approximately 5:50 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 9:29 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3230 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3900 near Hawkins; at approximately 10:31 a.m. Angel Smith, 36, of Gilmer, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Aaron McWhorter, 32, of Hawkins, was arrested for outstanding warrants and Failure to Identify Fugitive Intentionally Give False Information.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3420 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:46 p.m., in reference to an assault. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1698 near Alba, at approximately 3:49 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 4:24 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 3986 near Winnsboro.

At 5:02 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1758 near Yantis.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 1647 near Winnsboro; at approximately 5:09 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 6:51 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 3990 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2264 near Mineola, at approximately 7:05 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1246 near Quitman, at approximately 7:24 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies advised the individual of the effective burn ban and the fire was extinguished.

At 8:06 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2088 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2210 near Mineola, at approximately 8:44 p.m., in reference to a burn ban violation. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any burn ban violations.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4890 near Quitman, at approximately 10:12 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 852 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:38 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 10:39 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

At 11:47 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Between the dates of August 15 and August 21, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, Smith County and Adult Protective Services.

Between the dates of August 15 and August 21, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained 1 arrest warrant and arrested the individual, and recovered $750 worth of stolen property.

Total Jail Count – 124 inmates – 99 males and 25 females.
