Local Man Arrested on Drug Warrant
A Hopkins County Deputy observed Nickolas Skylar White, 26, of Sulphur Springs inside a local convenience store on South Broadway. The deputy knew that White was wanted on an active warrant and after a check through Hopkins County Communications confirmed the warrant, White was arrested at the scene.
White is in Hopkins County jail charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 1-gram but less than 4-grams in a Drug Free Zone. He is being held in Hopkins County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
Failure to Use Turn Signal Leads to Drug Arrest
Failure to use a turn signal resulted in the arrest of Ragan McKenzie Box, 20, of Sulphur Springs. Hopkins County Deputies made the traffic stop at the intersection of CR 3529 and FM 67 Sunday.
Box did not have a valid driver’s license and both Box and her passenger appeared nervous and their story did not seem credible. During the interview at the scene, 
Box admitted to having methamphetamine in her purse. She is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 under 1-gram and no valid driver’s license.
The passenger had a small amount of marijuana in his sock. Both driver and passenger were arrested.

T-Shirt Gun Explodes; Three Injured
According to a member of the SSHS Wildcat “Cat Pack”, the three injured when the T-shirt gun exploded Friday night near the end of the first half of the Wildcat/Texas High football game were treated at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital and all are home Saturday. The one holding and firing the T-shirt gun had damage to his finger tips but they were repaired by the local ER.
The accident happened with during the second quarter of the game Friday night at Prim Stadium. The T-shirt gun/cannon propels T-shirts into the crowd following Wildcat touchdowns.

Lady Cat Volleyball Defeats Texas High to Take Half Game Lead in District Play
The Lady Cats’ volleyball team surged into first place after they edged by Texas High in a pulse pounding five set win, 3-2 in Wildcats Gym Friday.
The Lady Cats got off to a fast start. Perhaps playing their best set of the year, the Lady Cats dominated Texas High, 25-5. Erika VanBenthem served for six straight points. Sadie Stroud later had nine serves for points. Texas High fought back to even the match with a set two victory, 25-23. The Lady Tigers got the last two points to win the close set.
The Lady Cats then took set three, 29-27. This set was tied at 27-27 and this time the Lady Cats got the last two points to take a 2-1 lead in sets. Then Texas High overwhelmed the Lady Cats in set four, 25-14 to even the match at 2-2.
Set five was another battle. With the score tied at 14-14, Autumn Tanton had a big kill to give the Lady Cats a 15-14 lead. Tanton then teamed up with Kaylee Jefferson to block a Texas High kill attempt that dramatically ended the match with the Lady Cats winning, 16-14.
Jefferson had a team high 17 kills and Tanton added 13. Setter Anden Hammack had 41 assists and led the team with three service aces. Libero Maggie McGlamery had a team high 21 digs. Sadie Stroud added 12 and Imani Taylor and Jefferson adding ten apiece.
The Lady Cats have now won 8 straight district matches and are 8-2 in district play. Texas High slips to 7-2 in district, just a half game behind the Lady Cats. The Lady Cats have a very big match coming up next. They travel to Pine Tree next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Texas High 35-Wildcats 21
Two early turnovers that led to short TD runs and a big play touchdown put the Wildcats in a 21-0 hole that they could never get out of as Texas High defeated the Wildcats, 35-21 at Gerald Prim Stadium Friday night.
On their very first offensive play, the Wildcats fumbled and Texas High recovered at the Wildcats 7 yard line. Texas High scored on a four yard run by back Chris Sutton. The Tigers led 7-0 just 42 seconds into the first quarter.
On the second Wildcats drive, the Tigers intercepted a pass. After another four yard TD run by Sutton, Texas High upped their led to 14-0 with 9:38 still left in the first quarter. Later the Wildcats pinned Texas High down at their own four yard line after a nice punt by Angel Tavera. Tigers quarterback Riley Russell passed from his own end zone and teamed up with receiver Tevailance Hunt for a 96-yard pass and run for a touchdown. Less than seven minutes into the game, Texas High was up 21-0.
The Wildcats beat the clock and scored with just 17-seconds left in the second quarter. Back Colton Allen ran for a 6-yard TD. At the half, Texas High was up, 21-7.
The Tigers added to their lead when quarterback Russell ran for a 68-yard touchdown on the first Texas High scrimmage play in the third quarter. Texas High was up 28-7 with just 16 seconds gone in the third quarter. Wildcats quarterback D’Corian Young helped the Wildcats cut into the lead as he threw a TD pass to receiver Simeon Taylor. With 6:30 to play in quarter number three, the Wildcats trailed the Tigers, 28-14. Texas High scored one more time in the third quarter as receiver Hunt took a handoff and sailed 32 yards into the end zone. After three, Texas High led 35-14.
The Wildcats managed one final score as quarterback Young scored on a 2 yard run and the Wildcats trailed 35-21 with just 39 seconds left to play. That’s the way it ended.
The Wildcats are now 0-3 in district play and 2-5 for the season. They have lost five straight games. The Wildcats have a bye next Fridaybefore playing in Mt. Pleasant on October 27.
