May 27, 2026 – The next regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs City Council may be a busy night for council members as the recent agenda has been released for the Tuesday June 7th meeting. The public portion of the City Council meeting starts at 7pm but the council will convene into an executive session prior to the public meeting. The executive session starts at 6pm and appears to involve the council revisiting some previously approved items concerning the proposed data center. The original letter of intent with MSB Global and the city as well as two 380 agreements are mentioned on the agenda for the private meeting. The City of Sulphur Springs as well as its council members are embroiled in a lawsuit with the previous owner of the Thermo Mine property and another lawsuit from a Sulphur Springs resident challenging council members on transparency and open meetings compliance.
Once the public portion of the meeting gets underway, the council will still have a full agenda ahead of them as they will need to swear in one new council member as well as accept the resignation of another and appoint a replacemnt for that unexpired term. Other housekeeping items include electing a new mayor and mayor pro tem as well as a long list of ordinances to be considered ranging from food truck restrictions to subdivision replats to those previously agreed upon items discussed in executive session.
The regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs City Council starts at 7pm at City Hall located at 201 North Davis St in Sulphur Springs.
