Man Killed In Collision Saturday Night

A man was reported to have been killed in a collision Saturday night. The crash, according to sheriff’s reports, was first reported to emergency responders just before 10 p.m. March 5, 2022, on State Highway 19 south.

Multiple law enforcement officers, including sheriff’s deputies and state troopers, firefighters from several departments, and emergency services personnel were dispatched to the crash site. At least two people were reported to be trapped in wreckage and would require extrication.

Upon arrival, one emergency responder reported what appeared the be three entrapments. State Highway 19 south was shut down temporarily and traffic diverted away from the crash site, while emergency responders worked to cut the vehicle occupants out. A helicopter was requested.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace BJ Teer Sunday afternoon, however, confirmed that a 26-year-old Hopkins County man was killed crash. Teer pronounced the man dead at 10:05 p.m. Saturday.

The crash is reported to still be under investigation by Texas Department of Public Safety. Very few details has been released about the crash Sunday afternoon, including the names of the individuals involved.
