Sulphur Springs Police Cpl. Terry Miller attempted to stop a Nissan Murano at 9:15 a.m. April 19 on Interstate 30 at the 125 mile marker for driving 87 in a 75 mile per hour speed zone. Instead of stopping, the driver reportedly began fleeing instead of stopping, weaving in and out of traffic.

Officers pursued the vehicle as it exited I-30 at mile marker 131, then continued through the stop sign on FM 69 east without stopping. The vehicle was driven along the I-30 service road to the 135 mile marker. The driver did not make the turn, causing the sport vehicle to hit the ditch and continue. The vehicle struck a post, went airborne and continued to the entrance ramp at mile marker 135.

Instead of obeying orders called to him by officers, the Dallas man fled on foot. Rodgrick Jermaine Nix, who is also known by Jermaine Rodgrick, was caught a short distance later, however, and arrested at 9:22 a.m. April 19 on a third-degree felony evading arrest or detention with a vehicle charge, according to arrest reports. He remained in custody late Tuesday morning, April 20, 2021, on the charge.
