Chris Manning Genealogical Society September 2026

Next Hopkins County Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting to be Held September 17th

September 3, 2026 – Please join us on September 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Hopkins County Genealogical Society Library (611 N. Davis Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas) or via Zoom for a special presentation by Chris Manning.

Chris will share the story of his great-great-uncle, Esca McCord, a Texas soldier from the Weaver community who was killed in combat in France during World War I. Through extensive research at the National Archives and using surviving family letters and photographs, Chris has reconstructed Esca’s military service in remarkable detail, making him one of the most thoroughly documented Texas doughboys of the war. Chris is also currently working on a documentary chronicling this history, which he will be presenting
