Sulphur Springs, TX – The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation Board of Directors recently elected four new board members. According to the Foundation’s Bylaws, the Board may have up to 15 Hopkins County residents serve as directors. Terms are for three years, with a maximum of two consecutive terms before requiring an absence from the Board for at least 12 months.
New Board members are Walt Gamblin, Mary Heilman, and Barbara McKenzie. All three, along with their spouses, have been longtime supporters of the Foundation and its programs. Gamblin and his wife, Jessica, recently donated an operating room to the new surgical wing at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs.
Heilman and her husband, John, have served as sponsors and donors for every fundraiser the Foundation has held for several years. McKenzie served as one of the original board members when the Foundation was formed in 1997. She and her husband, Mickey, have been avid donors and sponsors through the years.
Newly appointed to the Board is Brian Foley. Foley is married to Gretchen, who grew up in Sulphur Springs. Her father, Dr. Bill Dietze, was one of the original Foundation Board members, and her mother, Peggy, was an active Gala committee member for many years.
The new members replace three outgoing Board members who had served their maximum consecutive terms. They are Pam Black, Garrett Glass, and Mickey McKenzie.
In addition to the new board member election, new officers were also elected. Foundation officers serve for two-year terms. The new officers are Chair Steve Rutherford, Chair-Elect Jessica Kultgen, Secretary Bob Weaver, and Treasurer Sally Toliver. These four individuals serve as the executive team for the Foundation.
The Foundation, now in its 29th year, serves the Hopkins County community by providing healthcare educational opportunities and free clinics to fellow community members. The Foundation also supports the efforts of the Hopkins County Hospital District/EMS and CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs by raising funds to make the most advanced medical technology, equipment, and services available locally.

Funds are raised through events, such as the Gala, Designer Handbag Bingo, Mingo, cash gifts, and planned giving. Gifts of any amount are welcome and impactful.
