John (J.B.) Davidson **UPDATED**

A memorial service for J.B. will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, march 27, 2023 at First Baptist church in the Spence chapel with Fred Lewis and Dr. Jeff Gravens co-officiating. J.B. died peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023. He had heart disease and kidney complications. J.B. was a 96 years old, a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, Texas since 1977.

J.B. was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He was educated through fourth grade. Due to the Great Depression, he was living with his aunt, Mattie Lou Coker and her husband, Dewey. On March 18, 1937 J.B. survived the New London School natural gas explosion, He was in the elementary school, and had left earlier. J.B. went back to live with his parents in Dallas. He worked various jobs; short order cook and Mrs. Baird’s Bread Company. His parents still had a boarding house on Phillip Street close to East Grand. He met his first love and wife, Elna Harvey Davidson. They married in Rockwall, Texas. He joined the Army and went to Ft. Knox, KY and Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. While he was in KY bootcamp for Artillery training, he lost part of his hearing. At FT Devens, he lived with his wife, and guarded POWS(prisoners of war). He worked at the Canteen or Officers club to earn extra money. He moved to Forney, Texas. He supported his mother and father all during his adult life. He nursed his wife, Elna, for ten years until her death in May 1965, He worked in Dallas at the John E Mitchell Co. making slushy machines. In 1966 J.B. met and later married Alice D Davidson from Guatemala City. He worked for Carnations Milk Co in Sulphur Springs, TX. He developed land for residential plots called Sandy Ranch West. J.B. was a rancher and enjoyed vegetable gardening. He took care of Alice when she became sick with cancer twice. He liked visiting places. J.B. was a member of the Military Coalition and American Legion #66.

J.B. is survived by his daughters and son, Karen Carnes of Ft. Worth, Texas; Lana Sartin(Billy), Sarah Davidson and Brack Davidson of Sulphur Springs, Texas; his grandchildren, Kelly Carnes, Shawna Privett(James) and Shannon Lawrence(Danny); six great grandchildren, Kameron Moore, Halle Lawrence, Sadie Lawrence, Colton Privett, Caden Privett and Jaxon Privett; nephew, Terry Davidson; numerous cousins from the Gibbons, Dodd, Coker and Harlow families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Pauline; brother, Bobby Davidson; first wife, Elna Harvey Davidson; second wife, Alice D Davidson and daughter, Darlene Davidson.
