A memorial service for Ron “Smitty” Smitheart Sr., age 78, of Emory, Texas, will be held at a later date. Mr. Smitheart passed away on July 25, 2022, at Christus Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
Ron was born on December 12, 1943, in Lufkin, Texas, to Ocie Lee and Bobbie Jean (Sowell) Smithhart. He married Glenda Faye Sikes on June 23, 1970 in Jefferson, Texas. Ron worked as a Police Officer for Plano, Texas, for 35 years, and McKinney, Texas for 2 years. He even attended FBI academy in 1975. Ron was a member of the Free Mason in Yantis, Texas. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Ron was a member of the Emory United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda; daughter, Tracy Lynn Smitheart; son, Ron Smitheart Jr. (Kristen); and grandchildren, Mariza Lynn Smitheart, Oleona Deann Williams-Smitheart, Ronald Caleb Smitheart, Lily Claire Smitheart and Jacob Luke Smitheart.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mona Jean Smitheart Lovett.
