A memorial service for Van LaDell “Dale” “PawPaw” Hill, age 90, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Hill passed away on January 30, 2022, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
Van was born on April 8, 1931, in Yantis, Texas, to C. Travis and Anna Lou (Bryant) Hill. He married Clara Goodson on January 17, 1975. Van was a veteran for the United States Army. He worked as a mechanic and maintenance for Cannon Craft. Van loved to work on old cars and trailers.
He is survived by his daughter, Rita Greer and husband, Mark; son, Dewayne Cockrell and wife, Billie;
grandchildren, Charlie “Tex” Hill and wife Rachel, Susan Hill Mooney and husband John, Amberly
Greer, Brandon Cockrell and Erin, and Cody Cockrell and wife Amanda; nine great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Reva Hill, Norma Denton, and Vivian Dalton and husband Kenneth; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Van was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; son, Henry Hill; and a great-great-granddaughter.
