Funeral service for Carolyn Shurtleff, age 83, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Shane Carrington officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Brandon Shurtleff, Brian Shurtleff, Kenneth Batterton, George Walker, Don Petty and Greg Scott serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Shurtleff passed away on November 3, 2021, at Carriage House Manor.

Carolyn was born on November 29, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jim and Idabel Scarborough. She graduated from Bowie High School and went to attend business school. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Shurtleff on January 23, 1957, in Bowie, Texas. Carolyn was a homemaker throughout her life. She diligently cared for her family with love and zeal. At one point in her life she owned a bossiness. She founded and ran the Country Cabin Gift Shop in Seguin, Texas. She was a faithful member of the Southside Church of Christ. All through her life she devoted herself to God and her family. She leaves a long list of people who were impacted for good by her love, kindness and wisdom.

She is survived by her sons, Keith Shurtleff and Kevin Shurtleff and wife, Kay; daughter, Kim Watson and husband, Richard; sister-in-law, Carla Swofford and husband, Jon; grandchildren, Paul Watson, Christa Watson, Jessica Watson, Kacey Batterton, Brandon Shurtleff and Brian Shurtleff; and great-grandchildren, Cara, Paige, Statler Anne and Batterton.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter-in-law, Beth Shurtleff.
