Before Buford Park became a crowded cooking contest site, I stopped for a few photos on Thursday to show some of the changes to the landscape of our familiar Stew grounds.
With the 52nd World Championship Hopkins County Stew Contest, a home football game for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats and a Carnival midway on site, it’s going to be a beehive of activity and fun! Get out and enjoy the 2021 Stew season October 22 and 23!
The main stage, centrally located near the Buford Park Pavilion, where contest information will be broadcast on KSST 1230AM. Behind it, the Pavilion will be used as a dining area for stew-goers. Just across the street to the south will be additional Stew sites and vendor booths
Near the center of the grounds is a Senior Citizens Dining tent.
This row of five white tents near the Stage will be used for collecting samples and for ticket sales
Hungry diners can look for the colored signs to point out chicken stew and beef stew sites.

Marking the stew grounds on the northwest entry to Buford Park stands a huge stew pot, a tribute to our Hopkins County heritage and home of the World Championship cooking contest
Other events are going on nearby, like the Sulphur Springs Wildcat game at Gerald Prim Stadium,
with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Friday October 22
The Arts and Crafts Show at Sulphur Springs High School on Friday October 22 and Saturday October 23
Carnival midway and rides just west of Gerald Prim Stadium near the Civic Center grounds
