Naoma “Mamaw” Potts

Funeral service for Naoma “Mamaw” Potts, age 96, of Brashear will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Brashear Baptist Church with Bro. David Burns officiating and Bro. Dustin Cowden and Rev. Byron George assisting.  Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery with David Baxter, Geary Don Almon, Doyle Wayne Potts, Allen Baxter, J.R. Potts, Scotty Almon, Jimmy Potts, Joey Potts, Matthew Potts, Putter Potts, Charlie Potts and Robert Baxter.  Serving as honorary pallbearers are Cathy Monroe, Lori George and Elisha Potts. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. “Mamaw” passed away surrounded by her family in her home on Thursday, May 13, 2021. 

Naoma Marie Potts was born on May 2, 1925 in Brashear, TX to Henry and Anna Bell (Smith) George.  She married Borvil Potts on May 31, 1941 in Brashear.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was a place of love and comfort.  She was a member of the Brashear Baptist church for over 40 years.

She is survived by her children, Linda Almon and husband, Geary, Betty Baxter and husband, William, Freddie Potts and wife, Carol, Larry Potts and wife, Vicki;  fourteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren; brothers, Earl Gene George and Glen George; sister Ruth Miller.

Naoma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Borvil; son, Dorral Potts; great-great grandchildren, Ellie Sue Walton, James Mason Baxter and Ainsley Baxter; brother, Billy George; sisters, Christine Bearden and Faye Dorsey.
