Wildcats Golfer Kip Childress Qualifies for Regional Tourney and Team is Fifth at District

At the two-day District 15-5A Golf Tournament at Tempest Golf Course in Gladewater last Monday and Tuesday (March 29-30), Wildcats’ golfer Kip Childress, an East Texas Baptist University commit, qualified for the Regional Tournament. The Wildcats finished 5th as a team.

Childress followed an opening day 71 with a second day 75 for a two day total of 146. Childress finished 3rd overall in the tournament to qualify.

The Regional Tournament will be played April 21-22 at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club. 

Wildcats Golf Coach Jeremy DeLorge said the Wildcats fought their hardest but were unable to advance as a team. Grant Mohesky finished 13th in the tournament shooting 83 and 85 for 168 total. Luke Dietze tied for 14th with rounds of 92 and 78 for 170 total. Coach DeLorge was Dietze’s 78 was his lowest tournament score ever. Rylan Brewer was 25thshooting 83 and 99 for a total of 182.

The Wildcats as a team shot 329 and 337 for a total of 666. They were just 13 strokes behind the second place Regional Qualifying team.
