Walter Dingman

Funeral services for Walter A. “Walt” Dingman, age 101, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2021 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Wheat officiating.

Interment will follow at Stouts Creek Cemetery in Saltillo with Heath Highfield, Terry Busby, Jeff Pool, Colby Flowers, Gary Windham, and Ron May serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Sanders, Gary Johnson, Richard Smith, and Rex Highfield. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., prior to service time. Walt passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.

He was born on September 3, 1919 in Paris, TX, the son of Sam and Lucy Ann Allen Dingman. Walt served in the United States Army and later worked as a dairy farmer. He also enjoyed fixing things for other people. He married Neoma Mays Dingman on October 12, 1940 in Paris, TX. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2010. Walt was a member of Lake Highland Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters, Mazie Norman of Troup, TX, Betty Sander and husband Dale of Garland, TX, Carolyn Johnson and husband Gary of Sadler, TX, Sammie Hedges and husband Bill of Whitesboro, TX, Beth Highfield and husband Rex of Pickton, TX, brother in law, Gerald Mays of Saltillo, TX, sisters in law, Jimmye Garner of Saltillo, TX, Chris Kerr of Dallas, TX, eleven grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, adopted daughter and son in law, Michelle and Richard Smith of Sulphur Springs, TX, and special friends, Doyle and Hazel Glossup of Sulphur Springs, TX.

In addition to his wife, Walt was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Dingman, great-granddaughter, Olivia Malka, and great-grandson, Camden Highfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
