Lady Cats Softball Team Gets Two More Wins in Canton Tournament Friday

The Lady Cats Softball Team improved their season record to 8-2 with a pair of victories Friday in a Canton tournament.  The Lady Cats overpowered Kaufman, 10-0 in the morning and got by Ferris, 5-3 in the afternoon.

Against Kaufman, Lady Cats pitcher Addison Caddell threw a 3-hit shutout. Caddell pitched six innings and threw 69 pitches striking out 6 and walking only 2. The Lady Cats had 7 hits. Addison DeSmet was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Nylah Lindley was 1 for 4 with a triple, 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Grace Magnuson was 1 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Caddell was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Matti Smith was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Nicole Higgins was 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored and a walk. Jadyn Harper scored 2 runs and walked twice. Crimson Bryant walked. Parris Pickett scored a run.

Against Ferris, both teams had first innings runs. The Lady Yellowjackets went ahead 2-1 with a run in the top of the third inning. It stayed that way until the Lady Cats erupted for 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 5-2. Ferris scored one more run in the top of the sixth but that was all. The Lady Cats outhit the Lady Yellowjackets, 5-3.

Bryant, the winning pitcher, threw 92 pitches over 6 innings and allowed 3 hits and no earned runs while striking out 12 and walking 1. For the Lady Cats, Lindley was 1 for 2 with an RBI, a double and a run scored. DeSmet was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Higgins was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Magnuson had an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Caddell was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Pickett was 1 for 3. Harper scored a run, stole a base and walked twice. Smith scored a run, stole a base and walked. Bryant drew a walk.

The Lady cats wrap up play in the tournament by playing host Canton Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
