Big Late Rally Puts Lady Cats Softball Team in the Win Column at Allen Tourney Friday

The Lady Cats Softball Team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat Friday, Feb. 26 at the Allen Varsity Tournament. The Lady Cats came into the top of the six inning trailing John Paul II, 8-2. Then the Lady Cats exploded for 7 runs to take a 9-8 lead.

When Addison Caddell held John Paul scoreless in the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Cats had a 9-8 win. John Paul actually outhit the Lady Cats 8-7. Both teams made 2 errors.

Caddell was the winning pitcher going 6 innings allowing 8 hits but just 3 earned runs with 8 strikeouts and just 1 walk. Addison DeSmet was 1 for 3 but her hit was a triple. She also drove in 3 runs and scored a run. Nylah Lindley was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, a run scored and a stolen base. Nicole Higgins was 1 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored and with a walk and stolen base. Parris Pickett was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Jadyn Harper scored 2 runs, walked twice and stole 2 bases. Matti Smith scored a run. Caddell drew a walk. Anahi Velasquez was 1 for 2 with a walk. Grace Magnuson walked and scored a run. Kinz Smallwood scored a run.

The Lady Cats are now 3-1 for the season. They will play back to back games Saturday morning in the tournament. The Lady Cats are scheduled to play Cedar Hill at 9 A.M. and Dallas W.T. White at 11 A.M. with both games at Allen Station Park Field #3.
