North Hopkins Art Students Competing In Statewide Postcard Contest

North Hopkins elementary and secondary art students created postcards for a statewide contest about voting, and need the community’s help to earn $500 to benefit the school art department.

The art students were asked to design a piece of mail not to sway people to elect one candidate or another but to vote. They were allowed to use words or brief phrases, but mention of specific candidates or parties is prohibited.

From the submitted entries, 3 per campus were allowed to be entered by the principal in the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation student postcard design contest. NHISD’s entries were selected and have been uploaded to the contest website.

All statewide submissions are displayed in an online gallery, and the public is encouraged to vote for a favorite artwork. Voting began Oct. 17 and continues through Nov. 1. Based on votes, one student winner will be chosen from each of the following categories: elementary (kindergarten through fifth grade), middle school (grades 6-8), and high school (grades 9-12). Each winner will receive a $500 contribution from Raise Your Hand for their campus art department.
