Graveside services for Jack Herbert Schuster retired USAF Lt. col., age 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Pastor Joe Ardy officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Jack passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs. He was born on September 17, 1933 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Herbert Schuster and Ilo Mae Byerly Schuster. Upon graduation from high school in Northeast, Pennsylvania, and attending Gannon College, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force. He began his career as an enlisted Airman Basic and received his Officer’s Commission in 1954. He served his country proudly for 28 years and retired at the rank of Lt. Col. in 1981 at Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Jack was active in real estate and rental properties. Jack was a Christian and member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bridge, antiques, and was an active member of the Texas Carnival Glass Club and the International Carnival Glass Association. Jack will be missed by his children, Tim of-Las Vegas, Nevada; Kim and her husband Gregory of Connecticut; Grae and his wife Sherry of Luthersburg, PA; Holly and her husband Larry of Boston, MA; stepsons, William of Sulphur Springs; Robert and his wife Stephanie of Rowlett, TX; and he was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Shirley Ann Schuster, and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1000 Texas Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
