Owen Wesley “Big Bird” Campbell

Memorial service for Owen Wesley “Big Bird” Campbell, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at The Way Bible Church on Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. Mr. Campbell passed away on Monday June 29, 2020 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. in Sulphur Springs, TX.  

Owen Wesley “Big Bird” Campbell was born on June 13, 1941 in Madill, OK to Clifford Norris and Matilda Caroline Campbell. He married Zela Pearl Bench on August 22, 1986 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Owen was a Lane Mechanic at Classic Lanes Bowling Alley in Sulphur Springs, TX, member of the Dallas Bowling Club, inducted to the Hall of Fame at the Dallas USBC Bowler’s Association Hall of Fame in 2012, member of The Way Bible Church, and he proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Zela Campbell of Sulphur Springs; daughters, Crystal Campbell of Alvin, TX and Renae Mitchell of Mt. Vernon, TX; sons, Clifford Campbell of Tyler, TX, Eric Isham of Greenville, TX, and Kelly Shields and wife, Jamie of Winnsboro, TX; son- in- law, Scott Mitchell of Sulphur Springs, TX; daughter–in–law, Carrie Shields of Sulphur Springs, TX; grandchildren, Meagan Mitchell, Dylan Mitchell, Madison Grigsby, Damion Shields, Katelyn Shields, Tommy Lee White, Christopher White, Briella White, and Krista Southall; great grandchildren, Darcee Weemes, Violet Mitchell, Rosalie Grigsby, and Kenzie White.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amanda Campbell.
