Wednesday, May 13

  • At 4:30 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1320 near Quitman.
  • At 9:53 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 3250 near Quitman.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:14 a.m., in reference to a scam on CR 3960 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 1:46 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. A known actor damaged the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to State Highway 154 near Yantis, at approximately 3:24 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1416 near Quitman, at approximately 6:16 p.m., in reference to a public nuisance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicles.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 37 near Mineola, at approximately 6:50 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individuals.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2280 near Mineola, at approximately 6:50 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. James Matthews, 72, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault Family Violence.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:05 p.m., in reference to harassment on FM 2869 near Hawkins. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:19 p.m., in reference to possible criminal trespass on FM 288 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3540 near Hawkins; at approximately 9:58 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

Thursday, May 14

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1940 near Yantis; at approximately 12:32 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Highway 80 near Mineola; at approximately 2:38 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Beaulah Street in Hawkins; at approximately 3:04 a.m. Justin Richard, 32, of Hawkins, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • At 8:38 a.m, cows were reported out on FM 2869 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 312 near Winnsboro; at approximately 9:29 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 17 near Alba; at approximately 9:44 a.m. Wilma Royston, 60, of Alba, was arrested for Hinder Apprehension or Prosecution Known Felon. Scott Stalsberg, 51, of Alba, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2262 near Mineola, at approximately 10:44 a.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:48 p.m., in reference to harassment on CR 3820 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2164 near Quitman, at approximately 7:15 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies located and advised the individual to shoot in a safe direction.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 2869 near Hawkins; at approximately 9:35 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:19 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat on Bent Bow Lane near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1575 near Alba, at approximately 10:42 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Friday, May 15

  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2297 near Mineola, at approximately 12:37 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1941 near Yantis, at approximately 1:42 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies located the individuals and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 69 near Mineola, at approximately 7:07 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with a key holder and everything was OK.
  • At 9:36 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Hawkins.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:47 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, broke into the reporting party’s property and stole several items. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1616 near Alba, at approximately 11:02 a.m., in reference to fraud. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • At 12:24 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3879 near Hawkins.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 near Quitman, at approximately 12:28 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 7631 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:37 p.m., in reference to fraud. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1600 near Alba, at approximately 1:10 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole an air compressor from the reporting party’s property. This case is active.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1227 near Quitman, at approximately 1:27 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1540 near Alba, at approximately 2:42 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3269 near Mineola, at approximately 4:15 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. A known actor damaged the reporting party’s property. 
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 80 near Mineola, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3279 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:22 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2263 near Mineola, at approximately 6:13 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Waterfront Row near Quitman, at approximately 6:39 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. Michael Mashburn, 50, of Quitman, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 7:35 p.m., in reference to a fire. Deputies located the fire and determined it was a controlled burn.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 8:17 p.m. Deputies located the individual and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1944 near Yantis, at approximately 8:28 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:31 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat on CR 1840 near Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Highway 37 near Mineola; at approximately 10:38 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2262 near Mineola; at approximately 11:29 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Saturday, May 16

  • At 1:41 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 1950 near Yantis; at approximately 1:52 a.m. Deputies located the individual and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Sioux near Quitman, at approximately 4:28 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 62, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1681 near Alba, at approximately 8:33 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies were dispatched to SPUR 514 near Yantis, at approximately 9:25 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and everything was OK.
  • At 10:27 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1600 near Alba.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 37 near Mineola, at approximately 3:43 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:19 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 8:29 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Roger Lawson, 38, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury of Family/Household Member – Impede Breathing or Circulation.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 9:37 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6671 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:13 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Sunday, May 17

  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2430 near Mineola, at approximately 1:11 a.m., in reference to a fire. Mineola Fire Department extinguished the fire and the incident was cleared.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Quitman, at approximately 1:18 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 near Quitman, at approximately 3:07 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies located the individuals and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1941 near Yantis, at approximately 8:44 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and determined it was weather related.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook beach, at approximately 10:02 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1475 near Como, at approximately 1:27 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4536 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:51 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Arapaho near Quitman, at approximately 7:33 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2129 near Quitman, at approximately 7:44 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:48 p.m., in reference to harassment on CR 1560 near Alba. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • At 8:57 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3105 near Quitman.

Monday, May 18

  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3470 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:27 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1558 near Alba, at approximately 12:52 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a trolling motor from the reporting party’s boat. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4470 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:51 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 near Quitman, at approximately 6:23 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:00 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat on CR 2130 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2264 near Mineola, at approximately 9:48 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the individuals and advised them to lower the volume of the music.

Tuesday, May 19

  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2176 near Quitman, at approximately 1:11 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the night.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2840 near Mineola, at approximately 2:22 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies made contact with the individuals and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Sioux near Quitman, at approximately 5:23 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any individuals.
  • Deputies spoke to the reporting party, at approximately 12:25 p.m., in reference to a theft on FM 515 near Alba. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a cell phone from the reporting party’s property.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Kickapoo near Quitman, at approximately 1:11 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies made contact with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2175 near Quitman, at approximately 6:26 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat. Garrett Brown, 20, of Big Sandy, was arrested for Terroristic Threat Cause Fear of Imminent Serious Bodily Injury.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2540 near Mineola, at approximately 7:59 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a dog from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2150 near Quitman, at approximately 9:25 p.m., in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

Agency Assists

Between the dates of May 13 and May 19, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following:  Texas Forestry Service Law Enforcement, Department of Public Safety, Quitman Police Department and Emergency Medical Services.

Total jail count – 129 inmates: 109 males and 20 females.
