Mrs. Porter passed away May 6, 2020 at her residence in Sulphur Springs, TX.

Billie Dean Flanary Porter was born January 6, 1937 in Enloe, TX to William Elliott and Opal Madeline Gantt Flanary. She married Robert “Sammy” Porter on May 31, 1953 for 66 devoted years and he recently preceded her in death in April of 2020. Billie was thought of by many as the “epitome” of a loving, supportive and most devoted wife. You rarely saw Billie without the love of her life, Sammy at her side.
For many years Billie worked as a buyer at Sears-Roebuck Co. in Dallas before moving to East Texas in the 80’s, following her husband’s direction to lead the fellowship. Falling into that role as a Pastor’s wife, she embraced it as a treasure because she served our Lord well and having a big heart for loving people was easy. There was not a single person she could not love whole heartedly, without judgment, without hesitation. No doubt, her door was always open, the coffee was always ready and her table was always welcoming. Fond memories were always made!

She is survived by her sons, Robert D. Porter and wife, Becky, Richard D. Porter and wife, Debi, Randy D. Porter and wife, Maier; daughters, Debra Porter Cross and Teresa (Prissy) Porter Townsend and husband Stanley; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ricky Flanary and Jack Flanary.

Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and two brothers, Harold Flanary and Lowell Flanary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. The online register can be signed at www.murrayorwosky.com
