The Lady Cats Softball Team continued good play in the Wylie High School Varsity Softball Tournament on Friday, March 6. The Lady Cats came from behind to defeat Burleson Centennial 5-2 and, then, won in a rout over Mesquite Horn, 10-1.
The Lady Cats are now 3-1 in the tournament. The two wins Friday evened the Lady Cats season record at 7-7.
Vs. Burleson Centennial
Against Burleson Centennial, the Lady Cats trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth. The Lady Cats chipped away with a run in the fifth and, then, surged into the lead with 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Addison Caddell got the pitching win, throwing 86 pitches and going 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 3 and walking 1.
Both teams got 6 runs and made 2 errors. Kate Womack hit a home run while going 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Matti Smith was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a double. Heather Bowen was 1 for 2 with a walk and a double. Nylah Lindley was 1 for 2 with a sacrifice and a run scored. Caddell was 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. Sailan Adair was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Aliyah Abron scored 2 runs and stole a base.
Vs. Mesquite Horne
Against Mesquite Horn, the Lady Cats got solid pitching from freshman Denver Wyatt, who got the win in the circle. Wyatt threw 83 pitches and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing only 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 2 and walking 5.
The Lady Cats had 10 hits and scored 3 runs in the first, 2 more in the third, three more in the fifth and 2 more in the sixth. The Lady Cats did not make an error.
Grace Magnuson was 2 for 2 with a run scored, a sacrifice and 3 RBIs. Abron was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a double. Paris Pickett was 1 for 3 with a walk and 3 RBIs. Lindley was 1 for 2 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Addison deSmet was 1 for 1 with an RBI. Braylea Brewer was 1 for 1 with a run scored. Womack was 1 for 4 with a run scored. Alli Fite was 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Colbria Harrison walked and scored a run. Braydan Garrett scored a run. Matti Smith walked twice.
The Lady Cats wrap up play in the tournament with a pair of games Saturday. The Lady Cats play North Mesquite at 2 p.m. on the Wylie High School Field and then take on Sachse at 4 p.m. on Field B.
