Lady Cats Basketball Team Wins at Paris, 57-44 Friday Night

The Lady Cats Basketball Team got their most impressive victory of the young season Friday Night (November 22), defeating arch rival Paris on the road, 57-44. The Lady Cats opened a slight lead in the first quarter and led 18-12 after the initial period. The Lady Cats increased the lead in the second quarter and were up at the half, 30-19. The Lady Cats continued to increase the lead in the third quarter and they led 42-28 after three periods. Paris made a strong run at the Lady Cats in the fourth quarter but could get no closer than 6 points. The Lady Cats stretched the lead back out some at the end wrapping up the 57-44 win. Youth was served for the Lady Cats Friday night and three freshmen led the way in scoring. Addisyn Wall had an incredible game for the Lady Cats with 23 points including 4 three-point baskets. Kenzie Willis scored a solid 13 points including 2 long rangers. Serenity Lewis added 11 points. Junior Nylah Lindley scored 9 points and junior Bre’Asia Ivery scored 1 point. Senior Kate Womack did several things positive other than score points. Womack was called upon to handle the ball more and she also rebounded well and played good defense. She also played a long stretch in the fourth quarter with four fouls and never picked up a fifth foul. Lewis and Lindley also contributed with key rebounds. The teams passing was much improved over what they have shown prior to Friday night. Lady Cats Coach Brittney Tisdell took advantage of four straight practice days in the gym this week and the end product showed on the court in Paris. Paris got a strong game from senior Quiniya Savage who poured in 23 points including 3 three-pointers. Paris saw their season record slip to 2-1. The Lady Cats improved their season record to 3-4. The Lady Cats play Liberty-Eylau Monday in the Main Gym at Sulphur Springs High School. There will be a JV game beginning at 1 p.m. with a varsity contest to follow at around 2:15 p.m.
