Lady Cats Volleyball Coach Makes Some Changes Before Win Over Mount Pleasant Tuesday

Lady Cats Volleyball Coach Bailey Dorner did a lot of thinking after her team’s performance in a 3-1 loss at Greenville last Friday (October 4). As a result she made some changes. Paris Pickett has become the team’s libero and she responded with a team high 13 digs in Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory over Mount Pleasant. Her servers now include Erika VanBenthem, Czela Moya, Nylah Lindley, Sadie Washburn, Peyton Hammack, and Pickett. Coach Dorner said the Lady Cats served well Tuesday and did not miss a lot. She said it was good to come back and get a win especially after the team suffered losses last week to Lindale at home and to Greenville on the road. Coach Dorner added it was good to get back home and get a win adding that her girls played well. She said Sadie Washburn played a great game, Brooklyn Burnside was solid, Sydney Washburn got in some good swings and Paris Pickett had a good game. The win was the Lady Cats’ 20th of the season. Coach Dorner said her team is not done yet. Friday the Lady Cats go back on the road to Texarkana to play Texas High. Both teams are tied for third place with 2-2 district records. She said Texas High is much improved from the team the Lady Cats easily defeated 2-0 in a Wills Point tournament back on August 17. Coach Dorner conceded that Texas High is a tough place to play and she called the atmosphere there electric.
