Saltillo Softball Team Drops Game to District Leader

The Saltillo Lady Lions’ softball team took a loss at the hands of the district’s top team losing 13-3 against Rivercrest Friday night (March 29). The Lady Lions got off to a good start getting a run in the top of the first. Rivercrest answered with two in the bottom of the first and four more in the third to lead 6-1. Saltillo added a run in the fourth inning but Rivercrest scored two to take a 8-2 lead after four innings. The Lady Lions scored another run in the top of the sixth but Rivercrest scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game, 13-3. Chandler Bain took the pitching loss striking out three and walking two. For the Lady Lions, Reagan Speir was 2 for 3 with two singles. Bain was 2 for 3 with two singles. Anna Reeder was 2 for 3 with two singles. Ally Smith was 2 for 3 with two singles. Brittney Peeples was 1 for 3 with a single. The Lady Lions record is now 2-6. They play Sulphur Bluff Friday at 4:30 p.m.
