Harden: SSISD Bus Involved In Minor Crash Monday, No One Hurt

Traffic was routed off League Street onto Henderson Street following what school officials report was a minor crash involving a car and Sulphur Springs Independent School District bus.
“A bus rear-ended a vehicle. It was a minor accident. No one was injured,” SSISD Assistant Superintendent Rusty Harden said.
The crash was reported to emergency dispatchers at 7:13 a.m. Monday near Ingram Street, just south of the Main Street traffic light, where traffic is often heavy in the mornings and afternoons before and after school.
“We were happy no one was hurt. Our first thing is always to see that the kids are OK, their safety,” Harden said.
The back of the car that was struck by the bus was damaged. The bus sustained very little damage, Harden said.
Harden said the parents of the children on the school bus were being contacted Monday morning to make them aware the crash occurred, but he emphasized no one was hurt.
Although school officials are aware of nothing suspicious, the bus driver was required, as is standard procedure, to submit to drug testing following the crash, Harden said.
