Seven Lady Cats’ Track Athletes Compete at Royse City Meet Last Thursday
Lady Cats Track Coach Derek Tyson took seven athletes to a Royse City meet last Thursday (March 7). Many students had gone to San Antonio to support the Wildcats Basketball Team at the State Tournament in San Antonio. Coach Tyson said he had three varsity athletes and they were able to generate 32 points. Abbi Beggs won the discus and shot put. Beggs had a discus toss of 104-feet and a shot put distance of 37.5-feet. Claire Bybee took first place in pole vault clearing a height of 10-feet. Sydney Washburn placed fifth in the 3200-meter run. Coach Tyson said it was good experience for Washburn to run against Kaufman athletes. He said Kaufman is known for having strong distance runners. Kaufman finished first, second and third in the 3200-meters.
