Tira News for March 26, 2019

By Jan Vaughn

Joyce Dodd reports, “Our food angels, along with Martha Payton’s brother, Von Honzel, and the Tira preacher and his wife, Clyde and Victoria Bostick, brought several large bags of groceries to our pantry today.” We always appreciate the contributions. Also, I want to express appreciation to Georgia Smith, Yvonne Weir and Joyce Dodd for putting the food on the shelves, and to everyone who helps with the pantry each week!
Joyce shared that the next Bible Study at the Tira Methodist Church will be on April 9 at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Robert, Yvonne and Wesley Weir spent two days in Dallas during spring break. Destri, Nico, Dustin, Natalie and Maria visited them. They went to Adventure Landing for mini golf, go-carts, and bumper boats. The Weir family celebrated Natalie and Dustin Weir’s birthdays on Saturday at Dacy’s house. The kids played in the hot tub and with the baby goats.
Landon, Laiken, Rylan, Brailon and Slaiden camped at Cooper Lake State Park Friday afternoon through Sunday. The weather was nice and they enjoyed fishing, hiking, playing, and cooking hot dogs and s’mores over the fire. I visited them for a little while on Saturday afternoon. Almost all of the campsites appeared to be occupied. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the park.
Tiffany and Jaidyn spent the last half of their spring break in Malvern, Arkansas.
Chip was in Corpus Christi over the weekend. He helps coach a Destination Imagination team at the Sulphur Springs Middle School and they were competing at the state meet. North Hopkins School had a team in the competition, as well.
I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community. If you have any news pertaining to Tira residents, past or present, please contact me, Jan Vaughn, at 903-438-6688 or [email protected].
