Wildcats and Panthers Play Regional Quarterfinal Game at TJC Tuesday Night

For the second straight basketball playoff game, the Wildcats will be facing the Panthers. They defeated the Midlothian Panthers Friday night and they now face the Lufkin Panthers at the Wagstaff Gym at Tyler Junior College Tuesday (February 26) at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are ranked #4 in Class 5A and their season record is 26-8. Lufkin won their Area round game going away against Mesquite Poteet last Friday, 63-35.

Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta said Lufkin plays defense as good as anyone the Wildcats have played this season. He said they are a very physical team and are also athletic. Coach Cipoletta said the tallest of the Panthers is only 6-foot-2 or 6-foot-3. He does like the Wildcats height advantage. He said Lufkin plays bully ball. Coach Cipoletta said the Wildcats will have their hands full Tuesday night.

Here’s a challenge for Wildcats’ fans. Someone with Lufkin told Coach Cipoletta that Lufkin has never been out drawn when it comes to fan support.

KSST Radio will have the Wildcats and Lufkin game with streaming audio from TJC beginning at 7 p.m. The game will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
