Powerlifters Register Personal Bests in Qualifier

Wildcats Powerlifting Coach Casey Jeter took several of his lifters to a last chance qualifier meet at Maud Thursday (February 21). Coach Jeter said it appears that Caden Davis, Jacob Semler and Jesse Carrillo all improved their lift totals so that they would qualify for the Regional Meet on March 7 at Tyler Lee. Coach Jeter said regional qualifiers would be announced Monday.

Coach Jeter said he hopes to take 7 or 8 lifters to the Regional Meet. He said Davis won the 198 pound weight class at Maud with a 485 pound squat, a 315 pound bench press and a 450 pound dead lift. Semler, in the 114 pound weight class, had a 250 pound squat, a 120 pound dead lift and a 285 pound dead lift. Carrillo, in the 148 pound weight class, had a 405 pound squat and a 250 pound dead lift. Coach Jeter said lifters Bradley Futch and Chad Menard also registered some personal records and showed improvement.

Coach Jeter also said Super Heavyweight lifter Jakeb Jonaitis broke the school record for a squat at Maud. Jonaitis lifted 660 pounds.
