Lady Cats Face Jacksonville at Winona in Bi-District Monday, February 11

The bi-district basketball game between the Lady Cats and Jacksonville has been firmed up. It will be at the Winona High School Gym Monday night (February 11) at 7 p.m. The Lady Cats are their district’s #3 seed. The Lady Cats ended district play with a 6-4 record and their season mark is 24-7. The Jacksonville Lady Indians finished in second place in their district with a 12-2 record. They are 28-6 for the season.

Lady Cats Coach Brittney Tisdell said the Lady Cats got to within one point of Texas High in the third quarter of the Lady Cats’ last district game of the season on Tuesday night in Texarkana (February 5). Coach Tisdell said at that point the Lady Tigers went on a 15-0 run that put the game out of reach. The Lady Tigers hit a basket just before the end of the third quarter and then scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter. The Lady Cats whittled the 16 point lead down to 9 points at the end. Coach Tisdell said the Lady Cats missed several short shots in the fourth quarter. They shot 41% for the game.

Seniors Sadavia Porter and Autumn Tanton had huge games for the Lady Cats. Porter scored 32 points and Tanton 18. They had 50 of the Lady Cats 58 points. Coach Tisdell said Porter also made 10 out of 14 free throws as the Lady Cats shot 70% from the free throw line. She said her team played hard but got tired late in the game.
