Saltillo Lady Lions Basketball 52, Avery 18
After completing the first half of district play with a perfect 5-0 record, the #25 ranked Saltillo Lady Lions opened the second half with a 52-18 win over Avery Friday (January 18). The Lady Lions got off to a strong start leading Avery, 18-2 after one quarter and 35-8 at the half. The Lady Lions allowed Avery no points in the third quarter. Maddy Smith led the Lady Lions with 17 points. Jocelyn Ochoa had 12 points. Brittney Peeples added 10 points. Anna Reeder had 6 points. Chandler Bain scored 5 points. Paisley Kastner had 2 points. The Lady Lions were a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. The Lady Lions are 6-0 in district play and 22-8 for the season. The Lady Lions play at Union Hill Tuesday evening.
Saltillo Lions Basketball 58, Avery 40
The Saltillo Lions’ basketball team improved their district record to 3-1 with a solid 58-40 win over Avery Friday (January 18). The Lions played especially well over the first three quarters of the game and led 46-27. Chris Boekhorst led the Lions with 28 points. Matthew Gurley scored 13 points. Ben Moore had 9 points. Edi Olayo scored 8 points. The Lions improved to 18-8 for the season. The Lions play at Union Hill Tuesday night.
