Wood County Sheriff’s Report for December 19, 2018 to December 25, 2018 includes:

December 19th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Yantis, at approximately 1:35 a.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the activity and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4494 near Winnsboro, at approximately 12:57 p.m., in reference to an overdose. Deputies transported the individual to the hospital.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Mineola, at approximately 2:52 p.m., in reference to theft. A known actor did not return the company trailer. Deputies were unable to locate the actor.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1941 near Yantis; at approximately 6:54 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 7:46 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 852 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3250 near Quitman, at approximately 9:34 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:12 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 778 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:29 p.m., in reference to an assault. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

December 20th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 1:59 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 12:21 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3230 near Quitman.

At 1:47 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3130 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:45 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass on CR 1912 near Yantis. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2230 near Mineola, at approximately 3:42 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the day.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1583 near Alba, at approximately 4:52 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4460 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:09 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 5:28 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1900 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 7900 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:39 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several tools from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 5:40 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2869 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6965 near Alba, at approximately 6:49 p.m., in reference to shots fired. A known actor shot the reporting party’s vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

December 21st

Deputies were dispatched to Cheyenne near Quitman, at approximately 12:08 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Deputies located the incident and determined no burglary had occurred.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2258 near Mineola; at approximately 3:17 a.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1699 near Alba, at approximately 4:10 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 5:48 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 17 near Alba.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3496 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:25 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 68, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:24 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3859 near Mineola, at approximately 12:23 p.m., in reference to harassment. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4560 near Winnsboro, at approximately 12:34 p.m. Joes Wrecker towed the vehicle and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3877 near Mineola, at approximately 1:17 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several jewelry items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:53 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 7:44 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 312 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Quitman, at approximately 7:53 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 8:42 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1900 near Yantis.

December 22nd

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3600 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:01 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched o CR 1431 near Quitman, at approximately 7:53 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s son’s vehicle. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2700 near Mineola, at approximately 10:03 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 778 near Mineola, at approximately 10:33 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies located the individuals and determined everything was OK.

At 11:09 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2336 near Mineola.

At 4:59 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 312 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:00 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on FM 49 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2790 near Mineola; at approximately 9:37 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Glazner St. in Hawkins; at approximately 10:22 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Green St. in Mineola; at approximately 10:40 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to Oak Road in Mineola, at approximately 10:52 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

December 23rd

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2088 near Quitman; at approximately 12:02 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2651 near Mineola, at approximately 5:19 a.m., in reference to a fire. Mineola Fire Department extinguished the fired and the incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6394 near Alba, at approximately 9:01 a.m., in reference to an abandoned 911 call. Jaxson Lane, 19, of Alba, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana. Tod White, 50, of Alba, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1423 near Quitman, at approximately 4:37 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to Village Trail near Hawkins, at approximately 6:15 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Steven Tobias, 48, of Hawkins, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury to Family/Household Member with Previous Conviction.

At 9:31 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 312 near Winnsboro.

December 24th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2310 near Mineola; at approximately 2:13 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 3:01 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 3428 near Hawkins.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:05 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances on HWY 11 near Winnsboro. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:10 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Quitman, at approximately 2:06 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 6:33 p.m., cows were reported out on Holly St. in Alba.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on PR 8571 near Winnsboro; at approximately 6:35 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 7:34 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 9:24 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies advised the individuals to lower the volume of the music and the incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2157 near Quitman, at approximately 10:54 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Glen Gooch, 43, of Quitman, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

December 25th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3226 near Quitman, at approximately 1:26 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the homeowner and determined it was an accident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 17 near Alba; at approximately 4:32 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4494 near Leesburg, at approximately 5:00 a.m., in reference to a fire. Perryville Fire Department extinguished the fire and the scene was cleared.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2263 near Mineola; at approximately 10:36 a.m. Daniel West, 29, of Tyler, was arrested for Failure to Identify.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1700 near Yantis, at approximately 11:12 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 84, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

At 4:47 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 69 near Como.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Yantis, at approximately 5:31 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 71, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6254 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:10 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2954 near Alba; at approximately 7:13 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1835 near Yantis, at approximately 7:42 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner and determined it was an accident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4570 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:06 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a utility trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2430 near Mineola; at approximately 9:57 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable o locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3230 near Quitman, at approximately 11:23 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies advised the individuals to lower the volume of the music and cleared the incident.

Between the dates of December 19 and December 25, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Quitman Police Department and Mineola Police Department.

Total Jail Count –112 inmates – 93 males and 19 females.
