Game Day: Wildcats Take on #1 6-A Denton Guyer; Lady Cats Host Idabel, Oklahoma

Wildcats Take on Denton Guyer, #1 in Class 6A

The Wildcats’ basketball team will take on the #1 ranked team in Class 6A, Denton Guyer, on the road Tuesday night (December 11) at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats come in with a 10-4 season record. There will be a freshmen game at 4:30 p.m. followed by a JV contest at 6 p.m. with the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. Guyer, also the Wildcats, are 10-2 for the season with losses to Sunrise Christian Academy of Bel Aire, Kansas and to Mansfield Timberview, the #1 ranked team in Class 5A. Guyer has two of the top recruits in Texas, one committed to Oklahoma and the other to Michigan. Guyer will be the fourth Class 6A Top 25 team the Wildcats have played so far this season. The Wildcats enter the game after having won 2 and lost 2 this past weekend in the Forney ISD Winter Classic. Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta talks says he looks forward to the challenge of playing Denton Guyer.

Lady Cats Host Idabel, OK in Wildcats Gym

The Lady Cats’ basketball team returns to their home court Tuesday night (December 11) as they play the Idabel, Oklahoma Warriors. There will be a JV contest at 5 p.m. and then the varsity game at around 6:15 p.m. The Lady Cats come into the contest with an 11-3 season record. Last week the Lady Cats finished third in an Edgewood tournament winning 3 games and losing 2. The Lady Cats have a two game winning streak having won their last two games at Edgewood. Idabel is just starting their season. According to Max Preps, the Warriors have a record of 0-1. They opened the regular season with a loss at Roland, Oklahoma, 49-20 back on December 1. Last year the two teams split two games. The Lady Cats lost at Idabel, 64-51 in November. Then in a December holiday tournament in Idabel, the Lady Cats defeated the Warriors, 44-42. The game will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
