Texas High Has Upper Hand in Team Tennis Win Over Wildcats

The powerful Texas High Tigers took an 18-1 win over the Wildcats’ team tennis squad at the Wildcat Tennis Center Tuesday (September 18) afternoon. Freshman Paige Miesse got the Wildcats lone victory in her girls’ singles match.

Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez remembered only one 6-0, 6-0 match. He said the Wildcats were competitive in most of the matches. Coach Martinez said several players lost in third set tiebreakers. The Wildcats are 1-2 in district play and 4-9 for the season.

They are scheduled to end district play next Tuesday with a match in Mount Pleasant. The Tigers reportedly have only four players so the Wildcats will rack up another district win.

The Wildcats are headed for the playoffs and they are the #3 seed in District 15-5A. Bi-district play for the Wildcats, against the #2 seed in District 16-5A, is scheduled for October 16.
